Nothing is bringing us more pleasure than seeing our patios and dining areas fill up again. As we reflect over the last twenty years, we have realized that the world has changed a lot. But we haven’t. And that seems to be just how our guests like it.

What makes us creatures of comfort?

It’s nice to have food, family, and friends that you can count on. It’s nice to know that you have a neighbourhood ‘local’ where your cappuccino is made just right.

And, it’s nice to know that you can take your kids to ‘that same breakfast’ place that you and your friends used to frequent after a fun night out. Next time you’re in, make sure to try some of these fan faves:

The Best Cappuccino in Toronto

Benny Boom

What’s in it: scrambled eggs, sautéed baby spinach, smoked salmon on an english muffin with hollandaise and BOOM Frites

From our humble beginnings to our bustling Boom Breakfast & Co locations across Toronto and Vaughan, we are here for you Toronto, and we always will be. Come in for pick up, dine-in, sit on our patio, or get delivery. We’ve got your health and safety on our minds, so relax and enjoy, nothing else has changed! Find us on Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter and order from any of our three locations.

As Thanksgiving is upon us, I start reflecting on what this holiday means to me, personally.  I know it means different things for everyone but for me, it means family and how thankful and lucky I am to have such a great family.  It’s sitting around the table enjoying a perfectly roasted turkey with garlic mashed potatoes or my mom’s festive rice.  Most of all, I love listening to my mother’s stories of her growing up with her six siblings in Little Italy.  She loves telling my brother and I how the art of conversation is lost on my generation.  In her time, there were no cell phones but friends still managed to get together and talk.  Don’t get me wrong, I think my mom is still cool and very adaptable to all the new technology but the romantic in me can’t help but agree with her that we have lost the art of conversation.

My favorite all time story my mother tells is the one where she “gave up religion for a cappuccino”.  You see, growing up she had a favorite café she would hang out with her friends.  According to her, there was this other café which dominated most of the business in the neighbourhood but only because they had the best corner but for mom, Sweet Dreams was more her beat.  Sweet Dreams was like going to your friend’s house to hang out.  The owner, Tony always treated you like family and made you feel so welcome but according to mom, he made the best cappuccinos, so much so that she would sometimes skip going to church on Sundays.

Fast forward to the present and Tony has moved on from Sweet Dreams and now runs the Boom family.  His philosophy is still the same, when you come to Boom, Tony always makes you feel like you are part of the family and he is still making those great cappuccinos.  I like that Boom still holds that little piece of the past for my mom.  Who knows maybe Tony can teach my generation a thing or two about the art of conversation and just hanging out with friends over brunch.

So, on this Thanksgiving, I would like to thank Tony, not just for his repertoire of espresso-based coffees but having a place where friends & food collide over brunch.

I’ve always loved this time of year, the time to say goodbye to summer and say hello to new beginnings; whether you are starting school for the first time or going back for a new year. It’s a time when you can sense a change in nature and almost feel the leaves changing their colours. Fall is a great season for all the romantics out there, the time to start thinking about bringing out your fall clothes. Students hanging out at cafes with their laptops drinking their lattes while working on their assignments.

I’m a full-time film student but I’m also part of the Boom Breakfast family. Most people wouldn’t think of hanging out at their place of employment on their days off but I love taking my laptop and grabbing a seat at the bar and work on whatever I have for school over coffee. Speaking of coffee, what should I have today? Perhaps a cappuccino or latte – I do love those silky smooth cortados but what am I saying, it’s Fall and nothing says Fall like pumpkin spiced latte.

As I’m enjoying my latte, I start thinking about what to have for breakfast? Should I go classic and have the Boom Power Breakfast? Nothing says classic like bacon and eggs, and those Boom frites are so addictive. Or do I feel like having an omelette, like the most perfect and fresh Farmer Gianni or perhaps the High Energy with the tasty turkey chorizo that just elevates the whole omelette. Maybe I’ll make my own: let’s see, spinach, caramelized onions, bocconcini cheese and I’m feeling adventurous so I’ll kick up a notch and add some smoked salmon – I think I’ve just created my own “Selfie”.

I’m feeling sweet and savoury this morning and the delectable Classic French toast with a side of crispy bacon and for colour I will add fresh strawberries with cinnamon and nothing says Canadian like pure maple syrup. I think we have a winner folks! Oh dear, Boom now has chicken and waffles served with maple butter, what is a girl to do.

I think I’m going to need another latte to help me with this important decision.

Wedding season is still in full swing, and we believe that starting the big day on the right foot is key. This one goes out to all the grooms and groomsman who have time to kill before the ceremony and are all done with the pictures, poses and ‘surprise’ gift exchanges. Now’s your chance to finally grab a bite because we all know you’re not getting any food once the wedding celebrations begin. Hop over to Boom Breakfast with your boys to put something warm and delicious in your bellies to replace those pesky butterflies.

Here are some suggestions to kick off your big day.

Beer!
It’s your wedding day, it’s never too early to drink with your mates. Grab some Mill St. Tankhouse Ale or Organic and do a big old fashioned cheers with your boys. If you feel the need to make a speech, it’s all good. Just don’t drink yourself under the table, because we want you to make it to the altar.

Breakfast Blend Coffee
Couldn’t sleep last night because you were too excited huh? Totally understandable. What you need is a mug full of freshly brewed breakfast blend coffee to wake you up. And the best part is that it’s bottomless, so you can get your coffee fix for as long as you need it.

Benedict VI
It’s your big day, eat like a king. Order up an Eggs Benedict VI! We cook our 6oz. steak to medium well, throw it on an English muffin, top it with caramelized onions and 2 XL poached eggs, then finish it with hollandaise.

Brunch Burger
Grabbing burgers with your boys is something that never gets old. Continue the tradition with our Brunch Burger. Made with an XL over easy egg, peameal bacon, pickles, lettuce, tomatoes and onions, this burger will make you feel like you’re on top of the world. As you should!

Chicken and Waffles
Want something to remind you of how amazing it is that you and your significant other have found each other against all odds? Then you must have the Chicken and Waffles. It symbolizes the coming together of two great things like crispy fried chicken tenders and fluffy Belgian waffles, bound together with maple butter. It’s a great combo, just like you and your to-be spouse.

Need more? There’s a whole breakfast and brunch menu waiting right here for you. So stop by at Boom Breakfast, the best breakfast restaurant in Toronto to spending the morning with your groomsmen.

Canada’s 150th Birthday is this weekend and we are bursting with pride. There’s so much to be thankful for as Canadians, especially in the summer. We’ve got great weather, friendly folk and great eats from all around the world. And even though part of what makes us Canadian is our multiculturalism, we want to remind everyone that Canada has given birth to so much yumminess. So here’s a list of awesome Canadian dishes served at BOOM that you have to try!

Benny Poutine

We’re known all over the world for our poutines. The heavenly combination of fries, cheese curds and gravy has become the posterchild of our food scene. But where did the poutine come from? The story goes that poutine originated in the 1950s in Warwick, Quebec, at a restaurant called Le Lutin qui rit. When the owner was asked to add cheese curds to a customer’s fries,  Fernand Lachance responded, “Ça va faire une maudite poutine,” or, “That’s going to make a dreadful mess.” And thus was born the greatest invention of all time. We took poutines one step further by adding eggs and hollandaise sauce to the mix.  We call it Benny Poutine, and it’s delicious!

Oh Canada

Our very own Toronto was the birthplace of peameal bacon. The name “peameal bacon” derives from rolling the cured and trimmed boneless pork loin in dried and ground yellow peas to make it last. Since the end of World War II it’s been rolled in ground yellow cornmeal, to create the tasty bacon you know and love today. We serve up our peameal bacon in a dish so Canadian, it’ll make you sing ‘Oh Canada,’ which is incidentally also the name of the dish. It involves two beautifully cooked eggs benedict preparations over peameal bacon. Yum!

Caesar

It’s savoury, sweet, salty, sour and bitter all in one glass, the Caesar is one of Canada’s favourite cocktails since the 1970s. It was created by Walter Chell, restaurant manager of the Owl’s Nest bar in the Calgary Inn. It’s Made with vodka, Worcestershire sauce, hot pepper sauce, tomato-clam juice and garnished with a lime wedge and celery a stick, and can be found at Boom for your boozy enjoyment

Sausage EH

Every province has its specialties. For the prairies, it’s the farmer’s sausage, made with wood smoked pork. When we combine this lean and well seasoned sausage with two XL eggs any style, you get the Sausage EH, a true Canadian Breakfast.

Maple Syrup

What’s more Canadian than maple syrup? Nothing! The maple leaf is on our flag for heaven’s sake. Did you know that maple syrup was originally tapped from maple tree barks by indigenous people to help cure venison? Yup it’s true.  French settlers learned the art from the original masters and started selling it as a product.  You can enjoy pure rich maple syrup with loads of dishes at BOOM, especially our pancake creations. Try lathering it over Banana Granola Pancakes, Wild Blueberry Pancakes, Banana Blueberry Pancakes and the classic Country style Pancakes.

So stop by this Canada Day and show us your Canada 150 pride. Order one of these dishes at BOOM Breakfast, the best breakfast restaurant in Toronto to try Canada’s finest food.

There are some things in life that you just have to try, just because life is too awesome not to. The most common things people put on their lists are things like skydiving, writing a book, travelling Europe and sleeping under the stars. Our list is a little closer to home. We scraped through our records, scoured our social media and asked all our fans about what BOOM dishes would go down in the breakfast hall of fame. What we got is a list of our Bestsellers that we and our fans swear by. So without further ado, here are the top 10 BOOM Bestsellers you need to try at least once in your life.

Threesome

Whether you’re a huge fan of the breakfast classic of two XL eggs any style, pancake, and your choice of bacon, Canadian sausage or locally smoked pork loin with toast, or you just can’t help but giggle at the name of this dish, we can guarantee that you can’t go wrong with this order.

Farmer Gianni

Everyone knows Farmer Gianni. Not the actual dude, no one knows him, but the omelette, yea all BOOM fans love it. And when you try that perfectly cooked omelette with baby spinach, roasted red peppers, caramelized onions and swiss cheese, you’ll know what the fuss is all about.

Power Breakfast

You can’t beat the classic combination of bacon and eggs. You just can’t. No two things go better together than crispy strips of bacon and two XL eggs made in any style you choose.

Benny Boom

So they say that if you look at any restaurant’s menu and you see the name of the chef or the restaurant attached to the dish, it means that the restaurant is willing to vouch for that dish. And yes, we absolutely do vouch for Benny Boom. Why? Because it’s got the two beautifully poached eggs on a bed of sautéed baby spinach, topped with hollandaise and atlantic smoked salmon. Need we say more?

Monterey Chicken Club

This club is exclusively for people who like to put delicious twists on classics. Because the Monterey Chicken Club sandwich has all the makings of a traditional club sandwich. It’s got the bacon, tomatoes and monterey jack cheese. But it’s also that guacamole, which makes all the difference in the world.

Good Morning Smoothie

You can make smoothies with just about anything, and that’s the problem. People think making smoothies is about throwing a bunch of things in the blender and seeing what comes out. We like to think of it as an art. We put together only the most delicious ingredients that go together in tasty and surprising ways. For instance, the Good Morning Smoothie is made with blueberries, fresh OJ, mangos, banana and honey. The combination will blow your mind.

Banana Berry Pancakes

Who doesn’t like pancakes? Kids love them, moms love them, teens love them and just about every human on the planet loves them. There’s so much you can do with pancakes. One of our favourite preparations is our banana berry pancakes, made with bananas and strawberries, and topped with, you guessed it, chocolate sauce!

Benny Poutine

One day we had the brilliant idea of putting the two great dishes into one epic dish. We combined eggs benedict with a poutine, and came up with the Benny Poutine. The world has never been the same since. We know it will change the way you see everything. Talk about inspiration in every bite!

Boom P-BLT

BLTs are so last year. This year is all about Canada 150, and what’s more Canadian than Peameal bacon? This baby is made with lettuce, tomato, strip bacon AND peameal bacon. So naturally it’s a Canadian favourite.

Green Detox Smoothie

Who says healthy stuff can’t be tasty? Our Green Detox Smoothie is packed with healthy ingredients like spinach and almond milk, but also has the great taste of mangos and apples.

As an aside, which is also a side, we’d like to mention that our BOOM frites come with most of our dishes and we’ve been told by many that they are life-changing, well seasoned and crispy pieces of heaven.

Try every single one of these top 10 bestsellers and just as an added incentive, take advantage of our BOOM Six promo where you get one stamp on your BOOM SIX card every time you visit, and on your 7th visit you get 60% off your meal. So stop by at BOOM Breakfast, the best restaurant in Toronto to enjoy your breakfast favourites.

Tastebuds are funny things. They’re picky, they’re moody and they all want different things. Some taste buds like it salty, some like it sweet and others like it bitter. It’s hard to please them all. And things get even more complicated when it comes to food and drinks pairings, because they react differently to different food combinations. Talk about divas. Yeesh.

But fear not, we have devised a cunning plan that will help you get on your tastebuds’ good side during breakfast and brunch. For dinner, you’re on your own.

So here goes:

Caesars and Farmer Gianni Omelette

Caesars are made with clamato juice, which is largely a tomato-based drink. Tomatoes go brilliantly with eggs and other veggies. It so happens that the Farmer Gianni omelette is made with sauteed spinach, caramelized onions and roasted red peppers. So you see, it’s simple math.

Spanish Sunrise and Huevos Burrito

The Spanish Sunrise is our spin on the Tequila Sunrise, made with fresh OJ, tequila and grenadine. Now, the key thing to note is that tequila goes famously with citrus based food, especially salsa. And the Huevos Burrito is made with, guess what? Yup you guessed it, It’s made with salsa, scrambled eggs, green onions, roasted tomatoes, sour cream and guacamole on a whole wheat tortilla. You just can’t go wrong with this combo.

Orange Blossom and Cheesy Burger

On some days a beefy, cheesy, juicy burger is all you want. On those days, you want a drink that packs enough of a punch to stand up to the richness of your monster of a craving. In that case, you should try the Orange Blossom made with fresh OJ, gin, sweet vermouth with our Cheesy Burger made with real cheddar cheese, swiss cheese, lettuce, tomato, onions and 6oz steak.

Mango Mimosa and Oh Canada Eggs Benedict

We changed things up and made the classic mimosas with mango juice instead. But the champagne in a mimosa needs something rich to cut through the acidity. And there’s nothing richer and more delcious than the Oh Canada Eggs Benny made with peameal bacon. And of course, bacon makes everything better. Like absolutely everything.

So if you’re in the mood to treat your tastebuds to something amazing, stop by at BOOM Breakfast, the best breakfast restaurant to try cocktail-brunch pairings.
