Although he began as a server and line cook in his family's restaurant in 2001 at Churrasco Villa, James Cappellano, MBA, quickly developed a passion for starting, growing, and operating his own businesses. His experience includes luxury property and hospitality management in the Middle East, owning and operating his own successful wellness and coaching brands, and excelling in his MBA where he focused on marketing and management. James was integral to the opening of Boom Breakfast & Co. on College St. in Toronto followed by more locations on Eglinton Ave. (2008) and Vaughan (2013). He currently plays an instrumental role in the daily success of the restaurants and still highly enjoys chatting with customers and helping out wherever he is needed.

Jeff started learning the ropes in the kitchen with his dad as a boy and today not much has changed. He remains integral to the Boom Family Brand: running the kitchen, overseeing operations, and treating staff and customers just like family. “Even when I was on my way to the Vaughan [Boom] location which opened up in 2012,” says Jeffrey, “I’d stop in on St. Clair where my dad was and we’d have an espresso together. It was part of my day because we’re family. That’s how it always was.” Jeffrey operated the Vaughan location through its first eight years and now oversees special projects as they carry on the legacy that Tony inspired: one focused on family, friends, and of course, food.

For Mirella, it has always been a family affair. She joined forces with her brother Tonino, the founder of Boom Breakfast, shortly after he opened our first store on College Street in 2003. Together, they built a successful modern-day diner serving breakfast and lunch where our passion for the hospitality industry flourished. Her philosophy was to create a space where “Friends and Food Collide” in splendid harmony. In 2006 they opened the second Boom location at 1036 St. Clair Ave W. Inspired by connecting with people and creating a dining experience their guests could not get enough of. They would go on to open another two locations at 174 Eglinton Ave. W and Vellore Drive in Vaughan
